Imagine the possible effects that, even a portion, of a developed communitys aid could have on a single underdeveloped community. With each new project there will more personal contacts created between the two twinned communities. The more personal contacts between communities, the greater the sense of a community to community relationship. With a community relationship, the communications related to the impact of support will become more frequent.
The elevated awareness of positive outcomes will enable the donors of the developed community to celebrate more frequently in the ongoing growth of their twin. A greater sense of accomplishment will lead to additional contributions and the ongoing cycle of relationship growth will continue from there. Most importantly, of course, is that with each new project, the developed community will bring its twin and their country just a little closer to economic self-sufficiency.

While the projects that go on in the underdeveloped community will, in many cases, be unrelated to each other, some will quite obviously open the door to another opportunity for support and growth. For example, an electrical contracting firm might respond to a community request to provide electrical infrastructure into a shanty-town neighbourhood. Given access to electricity, the school in this neighbourhood could make its case for the benefits of a computer and a school in the developed community might respond with the donation of a used computer and the funds to buy educational software.
Other seemingly unrelated projects will combine to be greater than the sum of their parts. Consider the following projects all taking place in the same underdeveloped community. A Rotary club might pay for the installation of piping to bring potable water into a community. A networking group of women entrepreneurs might fund a request for an adult womens literacy program. A high school student council might provide the funding for resources to help teens avoid unplanned pregnancies and the spread of STDs.
The water delivery to the community saves a mothers time from the daily chore of fetching the water. The time she saves allows her the freedom to make use of the new literacy program. Once a literate adult, the woman can combine her new skills with the resources provided by the high school to help educate youth in her community.

The Twinned Communities model will also have the potential for greater impact through greater economies of scale. Some of the support for the underdeveloped community will come in the form of goods being shipped from the developed community. In some cases the goods from a variety of projects will be consolidated for more economical transportation.
The aid that stems from a single community is currently provided to communities across the globe. While Twinned Communities for Prosperity will influence a shift of some that aid into specific twinned communities, it will not discourage any choice of destination. Everyone has their reasons for giving and some of those reasons are related to geography, nationality or natural disaster, any of which might not be associated with a communitys twin. We will make a case for smart giving but fully recognize there are many ways and places to give smartly.
